Tim Cope knows more than something about staying power. A sports enthusiast, he has not only cycled from Shelburne, VT to Canada's Mont Tremblant, but he's done it four times, tandem biking with his sons. The endurance he honed on those trips works for him in business as well, where he believes in forging relationships that last. "Strong lasting relationships come from a commitment to listening, being honest, and caring."
When he moved to Burlington in 1979, Tim entered the insurance industry and in 1982, founded his own firm, Cope Insurance Agency, Inc. At FJG his concentration is on individuals and businesses, working to meet their Life, Disability, Long Term Care and Investment needs. He focuses on three primary areas:
- Coordinating the design and implementation of a successful exit for owners from their businesses
- Developing and implementing benefit plans for businesses and communicating them to employees for business owners
- Helping individuals design and purchase Life, Disability and Long-Term Care insurance to meet their individual needs
With a business philosophy that permeates his professional relationships, TIm says, " I believe that my role is to listen to and completely understand my client's goals and concerns. I know that it's my responsibility to consider and inform clients about any options that might meet their needs and I strive to do that with unwavering dedication. In my experience, the best solutions are accomplished through cooperative relationships with clients and their other advisors and I am strongly committed to providing excellent service."
An Active public speaker, Tim has been a presenter at the Annual Meetings of both the Vermont CPA Society and Vermont Life Underwriters. He is a published author in Vermont periodicals. Tim is an annual qualifier for the prestigious MDRT & Quality Sales Achievement Awards. " Community service is a family value that Paula and I have taught our children. We believe that we will have a better place to live by giving back to our community. It also feels good to have someone else's life better because of something that I do. I am proud that our family received the "YMCA Character in Action Award in 2004."
Tim and his wife, Paula, have three children Collin, Evan, and Lindsey. In addition to his cycling expeditions, he enjoys travel with his family to anywhere, UVM Catamount games and community service. " Six years ago, my son (age 14) and I decided to take a 5 day, 250 mile, bicycle trip. Having never been on a bicycle trip before, we had a lot to figure out. We had to overcome our fears and do extensive planning. It ended up being the first of four great bike trips with my sons. I understand the goals and fears that my clients have as they face their financial challenge and life changes."
